Blue and Yellow

So despite my general lack of enthusiasm I shared in the last post about AcaDec competition, the competition went pretty well. It was a giant nerd convention. I feel as if my team was one of the more attractive teams there, but what do you expect? Pretty people don't willingly participate in two days of nonstop testing over 10 various subjects. There was however a nice selection of handsome boys there, but they were outnumbered by their other nerdy counterparts.

(I'm in a blonde/chinese sandwich!)

Everyone sans one person was well behaved, and I was so sweet my teeth should be filled with cavities. Why was I so sweet? Well, this guy (let's call him Foxy) has been annoying me for quite some time, and I know he has personal/family issues, but when you're annoyed by someone no amount of pity in the world can make up for it. So instead of being overtly rude I was the definition of polite. Emily Post would have been proud.

He threw a fit about every single restaurant we went to, and complained about "eating too much and gaining like 10lbs" every single meal. WELL, maybe if you didn't ORDER ENOUGH FOOD TO FEED AFRICA you wouldn't feel like a bloated whale.
We went to Pei Wei, BJ's Brewhouse (best root beer ever!), and Olive Garden. The only restaurant that Foxy wanted to go to was Olive Garden because it was "cheaper than the other places." Bitch please. Olive Garden was the most expensive place we ate at. And when we got there he was all like, "OMG, these prices are way more expensive than the ones in our town." and I was like, "No, no, I assure you they're the same exact prices. Have you ever eaten at Olive Garden before?"
UGH. And the most embarrassing part came when he pissed one of our waiters off. Since we were a table of 11 we were assigned a waiter and waitress. When we were ordering drinks he asked for two glasses of pink lemonade. At the Olive Garden. For himself, because he guzzled them down so fast. The waiter, a saucy spanish man, was visibly appalled and somewhat miffed by this tacky request. Not liking the waiter's attitude he instantly attached himself to Christy, our other waiter. Oh Buddha. In order to get back at the other waiter he wrote a recommendation letter for Christy and left it on the table.

The entire AcaDec team was mortified. I almost died in my seat. And to top it all off, he left a crappy tip. One of my team members said to him, "You know, I think Christy would have appreciated a green note more than that note." Yeah, if I was Christy I would have rather had a $20 in my pocket than that crappy piece of paper that was nearly illegible.

Anyways, besides Foxy I had a wonderful time.
Inside BJ's!

Nathan! Our resident ladies man.

Cookies!

There were so many schools! (Hang Vu took this picture :D)

Fruity drinks at Olive Garden!

Oh yeah, I scored a 925/1000 on my speech, and highest in my division! Yay!

  2. Congratulations on being highest in the division! A nerd convention sounds like fun. Model Student Senate was a lot like that.

Wow, I am really sorry you had to deal with that kid. Talk about a jerk! Do you have to deal with him in other capacities? I am not sure if I would've been so polite, especially if he was an all around jerk, regardless of his home life.

  3. @Aria Thanks! :)

@Lizzie I have to deal with this guy on a daily basis. Most of the time my snark comes through when I have to be around him, but I didn't want to cause trouble on the trip. No one likes a Debbie Downer so I just kept my mouth shut around him :/

  4. i feel badly for looking at Nathan because he might be underage. i'll just blame it on you. tsk, tsk, tsk...
and Foxy is the exact type of person that i detest to wait on when i'm serving as a waitress. it makes the whole reality of personality disorders a bit more real (and this is coming from someone who has mental issues herself). i'm so sorry you had to endure that!

  5. I think you guys look like a pretty attractive team to me, but I may be slightly biased, haha. ;) Yes, it sounds like it was a fun time to me! It's weird to think that an academic competition can yield fun results, haha. Except for the annoying guy. I mean... he just sounds really obnoxious. It's mind boggling to me sometimes how people can be so rude. But other than that, I'm glad you had a good time. And congratulations on scoring the highest in your division! That's amazing! :D
