Awkward and Awesome

So, I flipped a coin and decided to go with the awkward stuff first.

On my uni's freshman facebook page there are like 3893847283 posts by girls trying to find roommate. There are a lot of girls staying in the fancy shmansy dorm suits where they get their own room and what not, so obviously I ignore those posts. Originally I was just going to wait to be matched through the housing system, but I thought--- hey, why not see if I can find a roommate ahead of time?

So, I found one post that had two of my top dorm choices. Coincidentally we had met at the scholarship weekend, and the few times I talked to her she seemed really cool. I checked out her facebook page and she seemed like she'd be a good roomie. She does ballet, is from Buffalo, NY, and had a decent set of interests. So I, along with a few other girls commented on her post. I ended up being the last commentor, which didn't really bother me. Well, the awkward part comes when I get a notification saying that she posted on the the thread. I clicked the link, only to see my comment at the end of the chain. Meaning, she had commented, but deleted it. AWKWARD.

So I decided to try again. This time I found a post where this girl named Margaux (a psych major from Vermont) who was planning on staying in the same dorms that I had picked out. She seemed really fun and upbeat and even planned on becoming a sex therapist. I thought, hey. I need to be more extroverted. So I sent her a message. Two days later, and still no reply. In all fairness she doesn't seem to be that active on facebook, but it's still awkward to just have my responses just open.

I would much rather them message me with a, "No thanks, you're just too weird to room with," or "Actually my best friend and I decided to room together" or "Oh, well, I'm not going to college anymore, I've decided to become a stripper" instead of just leaving me waiting.

So. That wasn't too bad. At least all the awk is contained within the internet.

Anyways, today I decided to apply for Seventeen's freshman 15 bloggers! I've been wanting to be a blogger for them since... man I don't even know. A LONG TIME. So I took a few pictures for them, filled out the application, and sent everything in. Here's one of the pictures I sent into them.
I swear I live in grey. I have at least 3 grey dresses, a handful of grey shirts and sweaters, and even a pair of grey tights. And I'm not even counting all of my business clothes. In fact, if you were to look in my closet you'd see that MOST of my clothes are grey or navy blue.

Also, I made a tweet about applying and this happened:

So I'm hoping that it's a good omen.

I have part of my spring break homework done, and I'd like to think that I'm halfway through, but deep down I know that I need to buckle down and just finish everything. Yeah. I'm going to do it. For sure. Right now.

Or maybe I'll just wait until Saturday. That sounds nice too.

  1. Don't get too wrapped up in what happens on the facebook page for your college. Most of the people who talk on the page or add as friends won't even so much as glance at each other once school starts and they begin to make real friends. This being said, don't lose hope! It will work out in the end. :)

Good luck with your Seventeen app submission! I love the pic you posted. So cute!
